Gravel
- Gravel is used as a support to keep smaller media out of the
distribution system and to stop channeling of water. A minimum layer of 3
inches per size is suggested. A high proportion of gravels is rounded and
tends toward a spherical shape.
- This media meets AWWA 100-89 Specifications.
Clean and free of dirt and shale: less than visible
specific gravity: 2.5 minimum
size: 1.2 mm to 2.8 mm
